Katsina Command recovers stolen cows, bursts human trafficking syndicate

Katsina Command has made significant progress in the  fight against crime in the 33 years old State.

Katsina State occupies 24,192 km2 and ranks 17th largest in the federal republic of Nigeria.

A statement signed by Superintendent Gambo Isah, the Police Public Relations Officer, says the Command recorded good harvest in the past few days  by recovering several cows and bursting human trafficking syndicate.

Specifically, the statement narrated that at about 2pm on August 12, the operatives of the  Katsina Command State Intelligence Bureau, SIB, arrested  40 years old Abdullahi Saidu and 50 Years old Jafaru Aminu.

The statement clarified that while Saidu  hails from  Gobirawa Village, Aminu hails from Unguwar Nachibi  village in  Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The suspects were found to be in possession of 12 cows suspected to have been stolen.

The arrest was based on credible intelligence.

This, according to Gambo Isah, has been the hall mark of the State Police Commissioner, Sanusi Buba.

He added that “In the course of investigation, all suspects confessed to have received the cows from bandits along Faskari Local Government Area of the State and  Birnin Gwari of Kaduna state with intent to dispose them off.”

In a related development and “Base on reliable tip off,” the Katsina Command has arrested Abubakar Habibu who reportedly hails from Koza Village in the  Maiadua Local Government Area of the State on August 11 at about 4.30pm.

The suspect, according to the Command, is “A  kingpin in a  human trafficking syndicate terrorizing Katsina state.  He was arrested at a police check point along Kongolom – Daura Road.”

The suspect who is said to have been on the ‘wanted list’ of Katsina Command, “Specialises in conveying their victims on motorcycles across the Nigerian boarder to Niger Republic for onward  trafficking to Libya and  Europe.”

While “Efforts are ongoing to arresting  other members of the syndicate,”  the suspect is said to have made useful confessions that will technically aide the Command for proper prosecution.
