OpenLife Nigeria reports that Niger State Government has opened the windows of job opportunities in Niger State by revealing that that it set aside the sum of N3 billion to pay salaries of 3,000 new employees to be employed in the 2023 appropriation bill in the state.
The Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Malam Zakari Abubakar stated this while addressing journalists on the 2023 budget breakdown tagged: “Budget of Consolidated and Transition of over N238 billion presented before the state House of Assembly on 3 November 2022 ,
The commissioner stated that the new jobs will gulp the sum of N300m monthly saying relevant government agencies charged with recruitment portal have already started work on the employment processes
According to him,” the gesture is in line with Niger state government’s commitment to providing jobs for the teeming unemployed youths. Government is determined to solve the problem of unemployment in the state and this is the reason for making enough financial provision for the exercise in our next year budget.”
He explained that the total estimated revenue of the 2023 budget was derived from five sources to include; statutory allocation, value added tax, internal generated revenue, capital receipt and other sources like refunds and donors among others.
Zakari noted that in the budget, the infrastructure sub sector will gulp the highest allocation of over N53.4 billion for the completion of various road projects, N28 billion for the ongoing Minna Bida road project and N15.8 billion to the health sector.
He also said over N7 billion has been earmarked for the water sub sector, N6.4 billion for the renovation of eight general hospitals, and N5.5 billion for the activities of Primary Health Care, PHC, facilities.
The commissioner further said N1 billion will be spent on renovating public buildings in the state.and N200 million goes to the provision of equipment to IBB Specialized Hospital Minna among others.
