OpenLife reports that Nigerian media aide Israel DMW has expressed appreciation to Twitter following the suspension of an account that had been impersonating him on the platform.
The development comes days after Israel raised concerns about a fake Twitter handle operating under his identity. He had earlier alerted the public by sharing a screenshot of a tweet from the impersonator, warning that the account could cause reputational damage if left unchecked.
Israel also urged Nigerians to report the page, stressing the urgency of the situation. His concern was heightened by the fact that the impersonator’s account had already been verified, a move that made it appear authentic and increased the risk of misleading users.
Providing an update, Israel confirmed that the account has now been suspended by Twitter. Reacting to the action taken, he expressed relief and gratitude to the platform for addressing the issue.
“Thank you, Twitter. I no just get body wey dem go beat like this”.
The suspension of the account has brought an end to concerns about potential misinformation linked to his name. The incident reflects ongoing challenges surrounding identity impersonation on social media platforms and the role of prompt reporting in resolving such issues.
