The Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide, a socio-cultural youth organization that promotes national unity and peace, has appealed to Professor Ndubuisi Gerald Okeke to declare his intention to run for the office of the governor of Imo State in 2023 under the Labour Party.
Professor Okeke, a native of Umulogho Obowo in Imo State, is a 35-year veteran of the oil and gas industry and currently serves as the Director of Services & HSE in Miradolf Refinery & Petrochemicals Ltd in Nigeria.
Hon. Casmir Nnadozie Irekamba, the President General of the Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide, described Professor Okeke as a “man of his people and the youths,” with the integrity, capacity, and competence to rescue Imo State from its current economic and security challenges.
Irekamba added that the call was necessary for the entire population of Imo State and that the November 2023 Imo Governorship election should not be left in the hands of those who do not have the state’s best interests in mind.
Irekamba praised Professor Okeke’s experience, integrity, youth-friendliness, and compassion and described him as a beacon of hope for the future of Imo State.
He also urged the people of Imo to rally around Professor Okeke, saying that he was a game-changer, soldier of morals, and democracy archetype.
The Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide conducted a study of the candidates vying for the Imo Governorship seat and concluded that Professor Okeke was the most qualified in terms of capacity, character, and competence.
The group aims to ensure good governance, development, progress, and security in Imo State.
After the administration of the late Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe, Imo State has struggled with political, social, economical, judicial, infrastructural, agricultural, and security challenges.
The state’s economy has worsened, poverty has become widespread, and insecurity has become a major concern. The Igbo Youth Assembly Worldwide seeks to address these challenges by supporting the best candidate for the Imo Governorship.

“Prof. Okeke Gerald Ndubuisi is a native of Umulogho Obowo in Imo State, Eastern part of Nigeria, has garnered the much-needed experience and exposure in the corporate & public governance, oil and gas industry, spanning over a period of 35 years now and still counting.

“We have found that you are a “competent, experienced, fair, youth-friendly and open-minded leader, compassionate and academically sound.
“We do not need a soothsayer to tell us that Professor Okeke is the beacon of hope for Imo future,” he explained.
“IYA Worldwide urged Imo people to rally around Professor Okeke, saying that the November 2023 Imo Governorship election should not be left in the hands of those who do not wish the people and state well.
“In this Imo 2023 Governorship election, we need a person, who is strong physically, intellectually, academically, and that person is “Professor Okeke” a game changer, soldier of morals, democracy archetype he stated.
“Since, after the administration of late Samuel Onunaka Mbakwe, Imo State is yet to have a governor with the concerted effort devoid of personal interest to repair the Political, Social- Economical, Judicial, Infrastructural, Agricultural and Security Systems of the easthern heartland state, which is the hub of development.
“Hence, Imo economic condition have over these precious years grown from bad to worse, penury is now tattooed on the faces of every inhabitant (Including animals) of the state, and insecurity has exaggeratedly become the most used word in Imo State.
“Igbo youth, a group of Igbo young progressive men and women with a burning interest for the good and the betterment of our dear state ‘Imo’ whose aims and objectives includes but not limited to ensuring the enthronement of good governance, studied the trajectory and it is in the face of all these abnormalities
in a bid to shop for the best candidate to ensure good governance, development, progress and security in Imo State.
