While the dynamics of hunger, economic depressing and insecurity could induce inflationary effects on the citizens, occasional natural disasters are, in itself, a whole world of agony. But to help alleviate the symptoms of the crisis including the root causes remain the job of government.
However, preceding policy outcomes are clear indicators that the foresight and political will of government to drive initiatives with community engagement and resilience building are apparently lacking across tiers.
To bridge the gap, aid organisations take responsibilities for providing human needs beyond the cycle and scope of communities.
Among the thriving aide organizations is Rosula Foundation, a non-governmental and a non-profit organization, founded by Mrs. Rosemary Osula-Atu.
The NGO’s pre occupation reflects an analyzed evolution of productivity by identifying policies and institutions that can leverage productivity growth to accelerate the system’s economic expansion and create new opportunities.
To achieve this, Princess Rosula AKA RosuMoney AKA Money Stops Nonsense, has over the years embarked on life saving philanthropist adventures in Edo, her home State, Lagos, across Nigeria and indeed overseas.
The foundation implements its objectives via three specified triangular modes in Humanitarian, Empowerment and Education through Scholarship.
These specific anchors are driven with patriotic passion.
For instances, following the advent of pandemic, Rosula donated about N50 million to the state’s COVID-19 medical outreach, in addition to various foodstuffs it shared to residents of Edo State.
This is outside the over N500 million she has single-handedly spent through her pet project the Rosula Foundation, on the purchase and distribution of food items such as, Rice, Beans, Semo, Garri, Palm Oil, Vegetable Oil, Noodles, Pasta, Ready Stew, Pap, Dry starch, Grounded Rice, Ground wheat, Powder Beans, Powder Yam, Powder Starch, Powder Plantain.
Dapo Sotuminu, a Facebook commentator said “Rosula Foundation is doing what others shied away from, providing food for the vulnerable during the Covid-19 lockdown. It’s was worth the effort. Thank you Princess Rosemary Osula-Atu.”
To Odunayo Opeyemi , another facebook commentator, Rosula has “shown us that we still have worthy and reliable individuals. God bless you greatly”
These are classical testimonies of Rosular’s support for the needy, a development that calls for government’s recognition and encouragement.
Without doubt, Rosula has engineered a process to flatten the curve of Nigeria’s age long economic inequality which heightened with the collapse of global oil prices during 2014–16. Its combination with lower domestic oil production led to a sudden slowdown in economic activity. As a consequence, Nigeria’s annual real GDP growth rate, which averaged 7 percent from 2000 to 2014, fell to 2.7 percent in 2015 and to -1.6 percent in 2016. Growth rebounded to 0.8 percent in 2017, 1.9 percent in 2018, and then plateaued at 2 percent in the first half of 2019, where it remained for the rest of the year.
The pandemic squarely places the beginning of 2020 as the most turbulent across strata, resulting into acute down turn in households’ domestic economy with apparent difficulty in feeding. Rosula rose to the occasion and provided supports.
Princess Rosemary Osula-Atu’s interventions in the affairs of Nigeria through endless philanthropy , therefore, deserves corporate and government’s partnership.
