OpenLife Nigeria has gathered that there is wide rumour in the public space to the effect that the Vice Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC Senator Kassim Shettima, allegedly aided the kidnap of students of Chibok secondary school in 2014 when he was the governor of Borno State.
A letter signed by the then Minister of State for Education, Barrister Nyesom Wike who is now the governor of Rivers State, advising Shettima to relocate Chibok students to a safer environment based on an intelligent report on the planned kidnap was ignored.
Information has it that weeks later, the Chibok students were abducted in 2014, provoking national and international outrage.
Till now, over a 100 are still with Boko Haram in various locations in Nigerian forests and neighbouring countries.
Meanwhile, all efforts to get the Senator’s reaction yielded no result as response request sent by OpenLife to his mobile phone was not responded to.
