OpenLife reports that Delta State Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House) Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza has expressed sadness over the death of former deputy governor of the State, His Excellency, Diokpa Benjamin Elue who died on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Honourable Osuoza extolled the leadership qualities of late Elue in governance and other activities in life.

In a statement he personally signed and made available to OpenLife, Osuoza prayed for God’s grace at this trying period for the family the ex deputy governor left behind.

The statement is reproduced below

With a heavy heart, I extend my deepest condolences to the family of the former Deputy Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Chief BSC Elue, on the painful news of his passing this morning.

Chief Elue was a distinguished statesman whose service to Delta State was marked by dedication, wisdom, and an abiding commitment to the growth and unity of our dear State.

His tenure in public office reflected a life devoted to duty, integrity, and the advancement of the common good. He carried the burdens of leadership with calm strength and a deep sense of responsibility.

At this difficult moment, may his immediate family find comfort in the remarkable legacy he leaves behind, a legacy of service, honour, and impactful leadership.

May God grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss and grant his noble soul eternal rest.
Delta State has lost a patriot. Nigeria has lost a servant-leader.

May his memory remain a blessing to us all.

 Dr. Ifeanyi Michael Osuoza,
Honourable Commissioner for Special Duties (Government House),
Asaba.
