Governor Udom Emmanuel Unveils Akwa Ibom Emblem, Anthem to Mark 33rd Anniversary

Governor Udom Emmanuel has Unveiled  Akwa Ibom emblem and anthem to mark the State’s 33rd anniversary.

The official unveiling is part of the activities marking the 33rd anniversary of the state creation.

 The emblem projects the rich cultural heritage of Akwa Ibom. It gives Akwa Ibomites a common identity and  as a reminder about who they are as a people.

Government statement says it speaks volume about the Governor’s unwavering disposition in the unity and greatness of the state. It adds that it amplifies his position on peaceful coexistence of Akwa Ibom people at home and in the diaspora.

“In line with Dakkada Creed, this emblem is a confirmation that Akwa Ibom is of God’s creation out of greatness.

“As a people, we can move beyond biases, ethnicity, religion, gender and rise to togetherness. It is a unifying factor that gives our people a sense of pride. Elements contained in the emblem show the richness of our dear state, and that we have all it takes to be great.”

Sometimes in September 2019, the state government called for submission of entries for logo, anthem and flag of the state. 400 logo entries were submitted. Over 200 for anthem and 300 for flags from Akwa Ibomites. Thereafter, a 12 member Committee from the academia, music, fine arts and journalism professionals was set up, to screen entries.

After rigorous and strict selection, one was picked and sent to Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly for approval.

The emblem and anthem represent another sterling achievement of Governor Udom Emmanuel administration.

 The message in the emblem would  fan the  embers of patriotism and loyalty to the collective goal of the State.
