God has responded to our prayers on COVID-19 – President Magufuli

&NewLine;<p>Tanzania President John Magufuli said Sunday that the number of coronavirus cases in his country had dropped drastically&period; He adduced this cheering news to the populations’ prayers&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>On Sunday&comma; the president proclaimed&colon; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;We started with God and we will finish with God&period; Looking at what is going on in our hospitals&comma; it’s obvious that God has responded to our prayers&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>National television broadcast his comments from a church in his northwestern hometown of Chato&comma; on Lake Victoria where he has been since March 28&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Magufuli cited several examples of improvement&comma; notably at the Amana hospital in Dar es Salaam&comma; where the number of patients reportedly dropped from 198 to 12&period; In the town of Lulanzi&comma; the previous number of 50 patients had fallen to 22&comma; the president added&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;As things go&comma; we can plan another three days of thanking God for the outcome… probably from next Friday&comma;” he said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The president said Sunday that one of his children had contracted coronavirus and had recovered thanks to his use of hot water with lemons&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>His son’s &OpenCurlyQuote;healing’ further highlights the close relationship of Magufuli with prominent Nigerian cleric TB Joshua&comma; who recently advocated the use of hot water with lemon for good health&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Magufuli visited Joshua’s popular church in Lagos several times prior to his ascendancy to power and his wife Janeth was among the thousands in attendance at the cleric’s crusade in Nazareth&comma; Israel in June 2019&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>During the service&comma; Magufuli asserted his intentions to reopen universities and authorise sports events if the number of cases continue to decline&period; He added that plans to quarantine tourists could also be relaxed next month&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;

Nollywood Actress, Shine Rosman, Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sexual Harassment In Lagos OpenLife reports that Nollywood actress Shine Rosman has spoken about what she describes as ongoing incidents of sexual harassment affecting women in parts of Lagos, particularly in Yaba. She said the issue is widely known among residents but remains unaddressed. “Do you know how bad sexual harrssment is in Lagos? Like go to Yaba, as a girl and see how you will be touched inappropriately. Everybody hearing this knows that it is true. But till today, nothing is being done about it.” She described what she claims are repeated incidents of inappropriate contact in public spaces without consequences for those responsible. “You’re walking in Yaba and people are touching you inappropriately and nothing will happen.” Rosman questioned the absence of effective intervention and raised concerns about personal safety in such environments. “If the government is not going to do anything, is it not ok for us to defend ourselves? In 2026, in a country like Nigeria, s+xual har+ssment is still one of the most passive things.” She also raised concerns about the implications of such behaviour occurring in open public spaces. “If a man can s+xually h+rass you casually during the day, what do you think he can do behind closed doors when no one is looking?”. The comments were made during an interview with Tolu Afilaka, where she discussed women’s safety in public areas of Lagos.
