George Weah In Trouble As President Boakai Gives New Directives

OpenLife Nigeria reports that former and immediate past President of the Republic of Liberia, George  Weah, may be having sleepless nights at the moment as the new president of the country, President Boakai has directed that all Government Assets in the possession of ex government officials should be turned in immediately.

Insiders aver that former President George Weah may be the target as he is believed to have left office with “unapproved assets.”

The President of the Republic, Joseph Nyuma Boakai who directed former officials of government to, without any delay and hesitation, turn over all assets of government in their possession on Friday, February 2, 2024, said the order is with immediate effect.

As further attachment of seriousness and urgency to the directives, President Boakai has announced the constitution of Government Assets Retrieval Team (GART), charged with the responsibility, among other duties, to identify, trace and retrieve all assets of government in and out of Liberia.

Part of the Team’s functions will focus on investigating assets, and also working with the relevant agencies of government to prosecute those found criminally liable.

President Boakai places premium on the highest standards of commitment, integrity and patriotism as hallmark of public service, and has been urging officials of government to exercise and demonstrate these principles at all times.

George  Weah, 57, is a Liberian politician and former professional footballer who served as the 25th president of Liberia from 2018 to 2024.

Prior to his election to the presidency, Weah served as Senator from Montserrado County.
