FG reacts as INEC moves to cancel 2023 elections

The Federal Government has reassured the public that the 2023 general election will proceed as planned.

In a statement issued by the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, the Nigerian Government dismissed any notion of cancellation or postponement due to insecurity.

Mr. Mohammed condemned recent statements made by an INEC official raising concerns about the security of the electoral process and emphasized that security agencies are working to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the polls.

The Minister emphasized that the government’s position on the matter has not changed and urged the public to remain calm and trust in the ability of security forces to safeguard the electoral process.
