During the weekend, Nigerian activist, Aisha Yesufu came under fire for saying that Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), must state how he would tackle police brutality.
Yesufu, who is a supporter of Obi, had quoted a tweet of Rinu Oduala, another activist, who asked what the LP’s candidate plan is to tackle the menace.
Yesufu had said the LP presidential candidate “must” provide his solutions to police brutality.
“Peter Obi MUST provide the answer on how he is going to tackle police brutality. No ifs or buts about it!,” Yesufu tweeted.
This did not sit well with supporters of Obi.
They said Aisha Yesufu who is reportedly on Peter Obi campaign council should be defending and providing answers and not asking such questions.
@Kaxablanca reacted: @AishaYesufu
needs to be removed from the PCC so can face her activism and hold every candidate accountable.
She cannot represent the ObiDatti movement if she is asking such questions that have answers already.
@Obong_Ekpe tweeted: “Wait a second, is this how you plan to work as a member of Peter Obi’s campaign team?
Are you not supposed to be the one telling people what Peter Obi plans are?
You’re supposed to be working with the candidate closely and should know this things, unless you are not a member”.
@iloani_ tweeted: “Even you as a member of campaign council you should help in giving insight where he already talked about it, He had already answered all these questions several times, Peter will not kill himself for us oo”.
Aisha has now debunked rumours of being a member of Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.
“When was I made a Labour party PCC member? I see how that is being thrown all around.
“I am not a Labour Party member neither am I on their list. I have made it categorically clear I am a citizen. I am not holding any position nor on any list. I don’t do appointments!.”
What she is simply trying to say is that even if she is a supporter of Peter Obi, she will not fail to ask him necessary questions about his plans to make Nigeria better even to the annoyance of OBIdients.
CONCLUSION
Aisha Yesufu is not on the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council.
