Delta State Internal Revenue Service, DSIRS, in collaboration with the e-Training Secretariat of the Nigeria Governors Forum, has commenced a virtual e-training programme for tax professionals in the State.
The partnership aims at boosting the professional capacity of its workforce.
Declaring the training open in Warri, Chairman of the Service, Sir Monday Onyeme reiterated government’s commitment to raising the quality of its workforce.
This, he said, can be achieved through what he termed “partnerships with relevant professional groups.
The partnership however revolves in areas of tax management, innovative strategies as well as compliance enforcement in tax administration.”
Mr Felix Ojie thanked the NGF for designing the training, stressing that it would go a long way in increasing the capacity of tax officers to deliver on the job.
Ojie, the Director of Operations at the Service, represented Sir Monday Onyeme, the Chairman of the service .
He therefore enjoined staff selected for the purpose to take advantage of the training to positively impact on their jobs.
The e-training programme which has commenced will run through the last three Mondays in August, 2020.
It has, as its areas of focus, tax payer management, tax laws, types of tax, and implications for tax management.
Others include best of judgement assessment strategies and tax payer compliance management.
The training sessions will take place on each of the selected dates between 10am and 1pm.
It will be via zoom meeting links earlier provided by the facilitators.
Okowa recently approved waiver of penalties on established tax audit liabilities emanating from audit carried out by Delta Internal Revenue Service.
The waiver spread from 2011-2019.
The waiver is in line with government policy of ensuring prosperity for its citizens, especially in this period COVID-19 pandemic.
