Delta State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has intensified efforts towards the successful reopening of schools for SS 3 students on August 4, 2020.
The Commissioner in charge of the ministry, Chief Patrick Ukah, in a statement on Thursday in Asaba said that fumigation of schools across the state had already started in conjunction with the Ministry of Environment to ensure that all schools were covered before the resumption date.
According to the statement, water storage tanks are being distributed to schools that do not have boreholes or water supply to make adequate sanitation possible in the schools and most especially enable teachers and students wash their hands regularly in compliance with the COVID 19 protocols.
Chief Ukah disclosed that staff of the Department of Planning, Research and Statistics in the ministry had been deployed to all the local government areas of the state to carry out minor repairs in the schools before resumption.
He added that the supply of other items needed to curtail the spread of the virus when schools eventually resume would be made available to all schools before August 4.
Recall that the state government on Tuesday and Wednesday this week trained 5,697 teachers on COVID 19 protocols preparatory to the resumption of schools.
