Dangote approves 220m for Ilaro Poly cement Technology

The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro, Architect Olusegun Aluko has disclosed that Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group of companies, has approved a sum of two hundred and twenty million naira for the institution to acquire equipment for the new course, Cement Technology which begins soon in the institution.

Aluko explained on Monday that the 40-year-old institution has created an agricultural village with the view of adding meaning to the agricultural sector.

He stated that as soon as the equipment arrive, the course will commence immediately.

Dangote    has expressed commitment to supporting the federal government agenda to diversify the country’s economy from mere petroleum into agriculture in order to address unemployment scourge.

He said, a cement group, headed by Dangote sponsored the curriculum for the Cement Technology. He has approved equipment worth N 220 million for the Polytechnic. So, we are waiting for the equipment to commence the programme.

”We have collaboration with Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, MAN and through the body, we recently exhibited some of the equipment that we have already invented. We have supplied many companies some of our equipment and some other companies are still ordering for more”

Aluko submitted that the institution is waiting for the Minister of Science and Technology to give approval to lunch the inventions officially.

According to him, the institution has fabricated palm oil producing line and electric mail box. He said that all the inventions have shown that   his team is working diligently for the polytechnic ”In our primary mandate of research and development, the Polytechnic has not been lagging behind.

”We know the problem of unemployment in Nigeria. So, we ensure   we add value to all of our products for   effectiveness in the labour  market.  ”We are the only school in Nigeria that has a driving school. This is because we notice that there are some jobs that require driving skills.

For instance, if you are a journalist and your editor wants you to cover an event and he gives you a vehicle, he will not give you a driver. So you must know how to drive and that is why we have introduced driving as a course”
