OpenLife Nigeria reports that aside the clamour by stakeholders in the opposition political parties to ensure that the May 29 handover ceremonies do not hold, uncertainty hovers in the political space about the availability of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the swearing in.
This uncertainty gained currency early Tuesday when news filtered out that Tinubu who has been declared winner of the February 25 presidential election may not be available.
According to a report earlier published in Trixx blog, “The president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to travel out of the country again just two weeks after he returned from a one-month vacation overseas.
Confirming the travel plan, last night, his spokesman, Tunde Rahman, said “The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, may travel out. But definitely not tomorrow.”
Meanwhile, those who have earlier objected to Tinubu’s presidential aspiration seem to have earned justification on account of the unending news about the former governor’s state of health which they fear may hinder his efficiency in office.
However, Tinubu who returned to Nigeria recently after over one month stay overseas told excited crowd at his Abuja residence that he is hale and hearty to tackle presidential tasks.
He maintained that he had observed the necessary rest and there was no cause for worries.
To demonstrate this, he embarked on two days official visit to Rivers State where he commissioned projects and held meetings with principal office contestants in the 10th National Assembly.
But those who spoke anonymously on his rumoured next travel concluded that all may not be well, after all. “If he travels, nobody is sure how long he would stay to attend to his health. That places cloud of uncertainty on his availability on May 29. Even if he manages to be around, things will not be properly arranged,” one of them said.
