OpenLife Nigeria reports that Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos, has commended governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for debunking a post which appeared on the X handle, LagosPedia, threatening a massive protest from August 20th to 30th, 2024, against the Igbo under the hashtag #IgboMustGo.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, has distanced himself and the Lagos State government from the threat and describing it as reckless.
Speaking on the threat in an interview in Lagos, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene who is also a United Nations Eminent World Peace Ambassador, stated that he has confidence in governor Sanwo-Olu’s abilities to manage crises and ensure that Lagos is peaceful
Sir, there was a threat on X that Igbo people should vacate Lagos State and the entire south west between August 20 and 30, 2024. But governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has debunked the treat. He has told Igbo people and other non-natives to ignore the statement and go about their lawful businesses. As President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos, what is your response?
Interestingly, governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has cleared the air that indigens and non-indigens are the people that make Lagos.
I thank him very much and I am happy with the governor. And I am always happy with him and that is the reason I will never stop supporting him.
It is a great relief for non-indigens in Lagos especially Ndigbo who embrace every where they reside as their homes.
Yes, I have made the statement time and time that those who are making such statements against Ndigbo are suffering from vocal diarrhea. And it is inborn in such people. They can even say something worse than that.
So, I have said it over and again to Ndigbo that such statements should be ignored.
Vocal Diarrhea effect in the mouth is worse than the one in the stomach.
I received the information on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 when I was in Owerri, Imo State, to attend the 2024 SDG Most Friendly Governor of the Year Award for governor Hope Uzodimma by the International Association of World Peace Advocates under United Nations.
So, for the statement, Igbo-must-go protest, governor Sanwo-Olu has already described it as divisive, reckless and dangerous rhetoric and the threats remain so as the governor has said. So, there is nothing to worry about. The statement is not for us, my people Ndigbo.
But this has proved to every Lagosian that governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a governor for all.
What we need to do for this gentleman, Mr ‘sellable’ is to continue to pray for him and support his government in Lagos State and beyond.
