CDHR Condemns Hike In Nigerian Law School’s Tuition Fee, Demands Immediate Reversal

<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<h4><strong>CDHR Condemns <&sol;strong><&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">OpenLife Nigeria<&sol;a><&sol;strong> reports that the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights&comma; CDHR&comma; has  strongly criticized the increase in tuition fees at the Nigerian Law School despite the ongoing economic difficulties faced by the nation&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The Rights group noted that the recent announcement by the institution&&num;8217&semi;s director-general&comma; Isah Chiroma&comma; revealed that the fee for the upcoming 2023&sol;2024 academic session has risen from N296&comma;000 to N496&comma;000&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>This decision&comma; according to the group&comma;  is deemed oppressive and unnecessary&comma; as it exacerbates the hardships experienced by Nigerians and restricts access to legal education for the less privileged&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The group  further expressed sadness to the effect that currently&comma; Nigerians are already grappling with the repercussions of the removal of subsidies on petroleum products by the Federal Government&comma; which has failed to provide adequate solutions to alleviate the impact&comma;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In response&comma; CDHR<strong>’<&sol;strong>s statement jointly signed by Comrade Debo Adeniran&comma; National President and Comrade Idris Afees Olayinka&comma; National Publicity Secretary&comma; CDHR  demands an immediate reversal of the fee hike and proposes a downward review of the tuition fees&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;vanguardngr&period;com&sol;">Should the law school refuse to revert to the previous fee structure&comma; CDHR vows to mobilize mass action to challenge the decision&period;<&sol;a><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The organization remains steadfast in its commitment to advocate for and safeguard the rights of the Nigerian people&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
