Buhari’s agenda has nothing to do with Nigeria’s interest—Prof Banji Akintoye

&NewLine;<p>At a time many are disenchanted about the slow response to critical national issues by the All Progressives Congress&comma; APC led federal government&comma; former Senator and Yoruba leader&comma; Professor   Stephen Adebanji Akintoye&comma; has added his voice saying President Muhammadu Buhari’s agenda has nothing to do with Nigeria’s interest&comma; a development that warrants the calls&comma; in certain quarters&comma; for his immediate resignation from office as President of the federal republic&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The renowned Professor of History who stated this in an exclusive interview with OpenLife in Lagos&comma; said &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;I don&&num;8217&semi;t think this is a partisan thing anymore&period; This situation has gone beyond partisan politics&period; We elected a man as our President but &nbsp&semi;he is not behaving as our President&period; He is behaving as if he has his own special agenda that has nothing to do with the welfare and the interest of Nigeria&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The former Director of the Institute of African Studies at the Obafemi Awolowo University&comma; Ile-Ife however offered insightful analysis and critical recommendations in view of ominous signs that could degenerate into a state of anarchy saying Nigeria is itching towards anarchy and it does not require university political science knowledge to decipher that Nigeria is currently on the cliff&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He emphasized that the ordinary trader in the market knows that self defence is the way to go even as everybody is defending its home&comma; farmland&comma; villages&comma; hamlet and all&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>As a remedy&comma; Akintoye said the Yorubas&comma; as a civilized tribe that abhors anarchy&comma; sat down and decided to institute common sense mechanism for protecting its land called Amotekun&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;I recommended strongly in every part of Nigeria that they should emulate Amotekun and mobilize their young men and let the government pay them to defend the locality and the village&period; Amotekun is the only way forward&period; It is the only viable way forward for Nigeria&comma;” he advised&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
