<p>Aviation Ministry and Zoomlion have partnered to disinfect Kotoka International Airport in Accra ahead of September 1 reopening.</p>



<p>The partnership is in line with <a href="https://openlife.ng/">President Akufo-Addo’s</a> directive for the reopening of Kotoka Airport for international traffic September 1.</p>



<p>The exercise which came off Monday has seen Zoomlion disinfected the airport  ;and its open spaces. ; ;</p>



<p>It is among government measures to halt the further spread of the coronavirus pandemic. The government says caution is necessary in light of the fact that the country’s first cases were imported.</p>



<p>Speaking, Reverend Ebenezer Kwame Addae of <strong>Zoomlion,</strong> explained that Kotoka Airport was being disinfected the second time. He added that the essence is to kill all viruses anywhere within the airport.</p>



<p>He said the first disinfection was targeted at curbing the spread of the virus. The second was aimed at destroying every virus hiding around the airport environment.</p>



<p>Besides these two exercises, he said regular disinfections would be carried out in three phases at the airport.</p>



<p>He revealed that this would be done by the airport designated staff members. It will randomly scheduled for morning, afternoon and evening.</p>



<p>“The morning disinfection will cover the terminals, arrival halls. Evening exercise takes care of all other departments at the airport including the airport clinic,” the Vector Controller said.</p>



<p>Rev Addae assured the passengers of safety. He however advised on added that with the strict observance of the COVID-19 safety protocols for safer airport.</p>



<p>The Minister of Aviation, Mr Joseph Kofi Adda, said government has put in place adequate safety measures at the airport.</p>

<p>These measures, he mentioned, included the installation of<a href="http://www.wsj.com"> COVID-19</a> testing facilities.</p>



<p>He, therefore, commended Zoomlion for its quick response to disinfect and fumigate KIA and its environs.</p>



<p>Earlier, D<a href="https://openlife.ng/">eputy Minister of Health, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye</a>, reaffirmed adequate security at the airport. He disclosed that the measures can detect possible COVID-19 cases at the airport.</p>



<p>He went on to stress that the measures will help prevent any infected person from slipping through the radar.</p>
