Aviation Ministry, Zoomlion disinfect Kotoka Airport ahead Sept reopening

&NewLine;<p>Aviation Ministry and Zoomlion have partnered to disinfect Kotoka International Airport in Accra ahead of September 1 reopening&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The partnership is in line with <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">President Akufo-Addo’s<&sol;a> directive for the reopening of Kotoka Airport for international traffic September 1&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The exercise which came off Monday has seen Zoomlion disinfected the airport &nbsp&semi;and its open spaces&period;&nbsp&semi;&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>It is among government measures to halt the further spread of the coronavirus pandemic&period; The government says caution is necessary in light of the fact that the country’s first cases were imported&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Speaking&comma; Reverend Ebenezer Kwame Addae of <strong>Zoomlion&comma;<&sol;strong> explained that Kotoka Airport was being disinfected the second time&period; He added that the essence is to kill all viruses anywhere within the airport&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He said the first disinfection was targeted at curbing the spread of the virus&period; The second was aimed at destroying every virus hiding around the airport environment&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Besides these two exercises&comma; he said regular disinfections would be carried out in three phases at the airport&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He revealed that this would be done by the airport designated staff members&period; It will randomly scheduled for morning&comma; afternoon and evening&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The morning disinfection will cover the terminals&comma; arrival halls&period; Evening exercise takes care of all other departments at the airport including the airport clinic&comma;” the Vector Controller said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Rev Addae assured the passengers of safety&period; He however advised on added that with the strict observance of the COVID-19 safety protocols for safer airport&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>The Minister of Aviation&comma; Mr Joseph Kofi Adda&comma; said government has put in place adequate safety measures at the airport&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p><&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>These measures&comma; he mentioned&comma; included the installation of<a href&equals;"http&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;wsj&period;com"> COVID-19<&sol;a> testing facilities&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He&comma; therefore&comma; commended Zoomlion for its quick response to disinfect and fumigate KIA and its environs&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>Earlier&comma; D<a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;openlife&period;ng&sol;">eputy Minister of Health&comma; Dr Bernard Okoe Boye<&sol;a>&comma; reaffirmed adequate security at the airport&period; He disclosed that the measures can detect possible COVID-19 cases at the airport&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;&NewLine;<p>He went on to stress that the measures will help prevent any infected person from slipping through the radar&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
