AIG Salman-Dogo Garba Felicitates With Muslims On Eid-El-Kabir

OpenLife Nigeria reports that the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 5 Headquarters, Benin City, comprising Delta and Edo State Police Command, AIG Salman-Dogo Garba, has extended felicitations to all Muslims in the Zone and wishes them a joyous and peaceful Eid-El-Kabir celebrations.

In a statement signed by SP Tijani A. Momoh, Zone 5 Police Public Relations Officer and made available to OpenLife, the AIG has also ordered massive deployment of Police personnel to worship centres, critical infrastructure, highways, motor parks, linking cum exit routes as well as strategic and vulnerable points across the Zone.

This is in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to all Commissioners of Police across State Commands and their supervisory Assistant Inspectors-General of Police to ensure public safety and security at EID Prayer grounds, recreational centres and other vulnerable points.

“As part of efforts put in place to guarantee a hitch-free celebration, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police has directed the Commissioners of Police of Delta and Edo State Police Commands to ensure visibility policing, crowd control and implementation of robust Anti-crime prevention and control strategies in their respective commands to ensure adequate security of lives and properties.

“They are to strengthen security in the entire linking roads, entry and exit points, highways, city centres and other strategic locations in their areas of responsibility.

The AIG is also mindful of the increase in volume of traffic occasioned by the Sallah celebration and has therefore ordered massive deployment of Police personnel for traffic control duties with a view to easing traffic congestion during the Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

“He further warned Policemen to be professional in the discharge of their lawful duties.
Additionally, the AIG implores members of the public, especially travelers and other road users to cooperate with Police personnel deployed on the highways and other duty posts across the Zone.

Finally, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, once again wishes the Muslim ummah and other residents in the Zone a happy Eid-El-Kabir celebration.

“He enjoins them to be security conscious, vigilant and to report any incidents, suspicious persons or movements observed within their neighborhood to the nearest Police station,” the statement read.
