Steven Anu&&num;8217&semi; Adesemoye has promised to equip students of Mass Communication Department in Lagos State University of Science and Technology&comma; <strong>LASUSTECH&comma;<&sol;strong> with skills and knowledge to succeed in the <strong>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;rapidly changing”<&sol;strong> media industry&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The promise came on the heels of his appointment as the new Ag&period; Head of Department&comma; Mass Communication&comma; effective 1st August 2024&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Adesemoye&comma; a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mass Communication&comma; brings a wealth of experience in screen and culture&comma; public relations&comma; and narrative media production to his new role&period; At different times&comma; he was the acting public relations officer and assistant dean for student affairs at the legacy institution&comma; Lagos State Polytechnic&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>&&num;8220&semi;I am honoured to lead the Department of Mass Communication at LASUSTECH&comma;&&num;8221&semi; <&sol;strong><&sol;em>Dr Adesemoye said&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong> &&num;8220&semi;My vision is to position the department as a hub for innovation and excellence in media education&comma; research&comma; and industry collaboration&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Dr Adesemoye plans to develop strategic partnerships with media organisations&comma; introduce new technology-driven teaching and curriculum reforms to enhance students&&num;8217&semi; employability and promote research in emerging trends in digital communication&comma; algorithmic consumer culture&comma; data mining&sol;visualisation&comma; neurocinematics&comma; and film tourism&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong>&&num;8220&semi;My goal is to create a department that is responsive to the needs of the industry and society&comma;&&num;8221&semi; <&sol;strong><&sol;em>he added&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><em><strong> &&num;8220&semi;We will work closely with media professionals&comma; alumni from the legacy institution&comma; and stakeholders to ensure our students are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the rapidly changing media landscape&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>On his plans for students&comma; Dr Adesemoye said&comma; <em><strong>&&num;8220&semi;I am committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment that fosters creativity&comma; critical thinking&comma; and innovation&period; We will encourage students to explore new ideas&comma; take risks&comma; and develop their unique voice in the media&period;&&num;8221&semi;<&sol;strong><&sol;em><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He worked at Digital Interactive Media &lpar;DIM&rpar; and Origin 8 Format as the Chief Operating Officer&sol;TV Content Director&comma; directing the Next Movie Star Reality TV show and the Supermom reality TV show in Nigeria and Ghana&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He also directed Distance Learning Dramas of Nigeria Urban Health Reproductive Initiative &lpar;NUHRI&rpar;- a John Hopkins Centre for Communication Programme&comma; and other documentaries for ARDA DCI&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He is a Fellow of the Business Journalism Professors at the Donald W&period; Reynolds National Centre for Business Journalism at <a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;vanguardngr&period;com&sol;">Walter Cronkite<&sol;a> School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University and a fellow of the Knight Centre for International Media Workshop at the University of Miami&comma; School of Communication&comma; Florida&comma; United States of America&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>He has numerous academic publications&comma; awards and honours to his credit&period; He is also a member of notable local and international professional bodies&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Steven&&num;8217&semi;s areas of research interest include but are not limited to neurocinematics&comma;
