Actress Moyo Lawal Dismisses Troll’s Detention Story After Online Clash

OpenLife reports that Nollywood star Moyo Lawal has responded firmly to circulating claims that she orchestrated the arrest of a social media user following a dispute over a viral image.

The situation traces back to recent online conversations about her appearance, where the actress addressed people accusing her of bleaching her skin. In reaction, she posted AI-generated images portraying herself with a darker complexion, questioning critics and asking if they were now satisfied.

She expressed frustration over being constantly targeted, stating that she faces backlash for something she believes many people are equally involved in.

Amid the online chatter, a Twitter user known as ScoobyDoe took a swipe at her, using the altered image as a cautionary example.

Not long after, he returned with a startling claim, alleging that he had been picked up by police and detained at Area F in Ikeja over what he described as a harmless exchange. He further stated that he spent more than a week in custody before regaining freedom with the help of his lawyer.

Moyo Lawal has now publicly rejected that narrative, distancing herself completely from the alleged arrest. According to her, she has neither the intention nor the authority to strip anyone of their fundamental rights over personal opinions, especially those tied to an AI-generated photo.

She stated clearly: “if she were to arrest someone, the public would know who she would arrest.”

Addressing the broader issue, she added: “there is always a false narrative about her online,” while urging critics to respect her space and “let her be.”

Her response signals an effort to shut down the growing speculation and redirect attention away from what she describes as yet another unfounded claim.
