Nyesom Wike Hints At Tinubu’s Defeat

OpenLife News reports that  Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said he would be the first target of political retaliation if President Bola Tinubu loses the 2027 presidential election.

Wike, who spoke during a media chat in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, linked the threat to his open and sustained support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

I Will Be The First Politician They Will Come After

The FCT Minister said the opposition would come after him first should Atiku Abubakar of the ADC or Peter Obi of the NDC defeat Tinubu in 2027.

“I will be the first politician that I think they will come after. I will be the first politician. I know they will come for my head.”

Wike said he was under no illusions about the risks, but insisted he had no regrets about backing the president.

Everything I Am Doing Now Is About Tinubu’s Re-election

According to Wike, his entire political focus at the moment is centred on ensuring Tinubu secures a second term.

“Each day I sleep, I am thinking about the president’s reelection. When I am eating, I think about the president’s reelection. Everything I am doing now is about the president’s reelection.”

He said he would not shy away from confronting the president’s opponents, no matter the personal political cost.

I Have Been Called Names More Than Anybody

The minister said he was unbothered by the criticisms and attacks trailing his loyalty to Tinubu.</p>

“I don’t see where anybody in this country today has been called names the way my name has been. I am not bothered about people who say their own thing. My business is, like I said, I am going to support Mr President.”

Wike maintained that his commitment to Tinubu’s victory remains non-negotiable ahead of 2027.
