“Wining Your LGA For APC In 2027 Is Your Core Mandate”
OpenLife News reports that governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has threatened to sack any Local Government Chairman who fails to deliver his area to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in the 2027 elections.
The governor issued the warning on Tuesday in Abakaliki during the inauguration of the new Chairmen and Vice Chairmen of the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
Any Chairman Who Fails Will Be Removed
Nwifuru said council chairmen must ensure 100 per cent victory for APC in their LGAs or risk immediate removal.
“Any chairman who fails to win his council will be removed from office and replaced with a councillor. I want this information to be on the headlines of newspapers because, as politicians, we would not speak in secret.”
“The chairmen know we would win in the state and if they choose to sleep and allow others take their areas, they would be removed.”
He urged them not to allow the opposition to thrive in their areas, saying “charity begins from home.”
Deliver APC 100 Per Cent In 2027
The governor charged the new chairmen to do everything in their power to deliver landslide victories for APC in 2027.
He also admonished the vice chairmen to work in harmony with their chairmen and avoid rivalry.
“Likened your position to ‘spare tyres inside the car boot.’ It’s only when the tyre refuses to function or collapses irreversibly that you can function.”
Nwifuru advised vice chairmen to stay available, ask about daily council activities, and not listen to gossip or ill advice against their chairmen.
Performance Can Take You Higher
The governor cited his deputy, who was a former council chairman, as an example of how performance can lead to higher office.
“Nobody knew she will be a deputy governor today. She performed in ways people saw her and believe she could do the work of a deputy governor. My deputy is doing the work perfectly and presently enjoying the position.”
Chairmen Pledge Landslide For APC
Responding on behalf of the new chairmen, the re-elected Chairman of Afikpo LGA, Chief Timothy Nwachi, thanked the governor and party stakeholders.
“We pledge to justify the confidence reposed in us and especially ensure that APC records landslide in 2027.”
Those inaugurated include Osborne Umahi, son of Works Minister David Umahi, as Chairman of Ohaozara LGA, and Mr. Chidi Nwode, younger brother to the governor’s wife, as Chairman of Ikwo LGA.
