Former Power Minister And 2027 Governorship Aspirant Sentenced To 75 Years In Prison For Fraud
OpenLife Nigeria reports that a federal high court in Abuja has sentenced Saleh Mamman, a former minister of power, to 75 years in prison for money laundering and fraud to the tune of N33.8 billion.
Mamman was convicted on all 12 counts preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Mamman Saleh, born January 2, 1958, served as Minister of Power from August 2019 to September 2021. He was sworn in by late President Muhammadu Buhari on 21 August 2019 after being nominated and confirmed by the Senate.
On 1 September 2021, Mamman who holds a higher national diploma in electrical electronics from Kaduna Polytechnic, graduating in 1988 and an MBA in business administration from Bayero University Kano, in 2015 was sacked by Buhari and replaced by Minister of State for Works and Housing Abubakar Aliyu.

Only recently, the former Minister formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Taraba State on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress,APC.
He made his position known while addressing a large crowd of supporters at his campaign office in Jalingo.
Mamman expressed concern over the persistent gaps in infrastructure, governance and socio-economic growth, adding that, Taraba state is under developed compared to other states created at the same time with it.
“Taraba State was created 34 years ago, yet we are lagging behind in the delivery due to absence of basic infrastructure including good road network both in the state capital and in rural areas.
“The lack of development could be traced to lack of good governance and has created total absence of infrastructural development that our people desperately need,” he said.
Saleh started his career in 1981 as a teacher in Technical School, Mubi, Adamawa State.
In 1992, he transferred his service to Taraba State.
He was promoted to the rank of assistant director in the ministry of works in Taraba State and retired in 2002. After his retirement, he became a full-time businessman and politician.
