Senator Danmarke’s Commitment To Education Excites Citizens

 

OpenLife News reports that citizens and other critical stakeholders in Katsina State  have commended Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke for his massive investment in education after over 3,000 Katsina State indigenes benefitted from sponsorship through the Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke Education Foundation.

According to a statement signed by Nura Ali, SA Media to the Foundation, the beneficiaries comprise both undergraduate and postgraduate students, who honoured the Katsina Peoples Democratic Party, PDP 2027 governorship candidate at an award ceremony organised by postgraduate students of Katsina State origin in BUK.

At the event, the award was presented to Senator Danmarke on behalf of the students by Professor Maryam Mansur Yola, who represented the Vice Chancellor.

Professor  Yola described his philanthropic gesture as “really outstanding” and urged him to extend it to other parts of Northern Nigeria.

“Your massive philanthropic intervention is really outstanding, and the students will never forget you. I request you to kindly extend this gesture to other areas of northern Nigeria.”

Equally, citizens of the state and other northern parts of Nigeria of various social stratifications  have applauded Danmarke’s humongous investments in education, promising to align with his 2027 governorship aspiration through which he could do more for Katsina State and liberate its citizens from the shackles of backwardness.

Earlier, Senator Danmarke and his entourage paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor, Professor Haruna Musa. He commended the VC for the “silent transformation” ongoing at the university and urged him to keep raising academic standards.

Responding,  Haruna Musa thanked  Danmarke for his contributions, noting that his sponsorship is among the highest by an individual in the university’s history.

According to the VC, the breakdown of beneficiaries is:
2022/2023 Session: 371 undergraduate and 21 postgraduate students
2023/2024 Session: 679 undergraduate and 41 postgraduate students
2024/2025 Session: 573 undergraduate and 123 postgraduate students
2025/2026 Session: 1,000 students
Total: Over 3,000 Katsina indigenes sponsored.

At the event, the guber aspirant assured students and the people of Katsina State of his resolve to sponsor more candidates and expand his contributions to education.

He also appealed to the Katsina State Government to review students’ allowances to ease the burden on parents amid the current economic challenges.

Members of his entourage included his running mate for the 2027 Katsina governorship race, Ambassador Yakubu Rumah, his wife Hajiya Zainab Sani Abacha Yakubu</strong>, and PDP Katsina Chairman, Alhaji Nura Amadi Kurfi.

Danmarke’s Political Profile

Born on October 15, 1961 in a community called Danmarke in Kankara Local Government Area, he attended Danmarke Primary School and Government College, katsina.

He obtained an advanced Diploma in Management & Finance from Kaduna Polytechnic.

He was a Chairman of a Local Government Council from 1999–2002, and a Member of the House of Representatives between 2003–2007. Senator Danmarke got elected as a Senator in April 2007 for Katsina South under  People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

In the Senate, he was appointed to committees on Water Resources, Sports and Land Transport etc.

However, Senator Danmarke who has contested for governor multiple times under PDP, CPC and PDM, emerged as the PDP candidate for the 2027 Katsina governorship election on Sunday, May 24, at the party’s primary held at the PDP state secretariat.

According to Barr. Nuradeen Sani, Chairman of the PDP Gubernatorial Primary Election Committee, 77,085 delegates were accredited. 77,013 votes were cast in favour of Danmarke.

“Having satisfied the requirements of our party’s constitution and scored the highest number of votes, Senator Yakubu Lado Danmarke is hereby declared the winner and the PDP gubernatorial candidate for Katsina State in the 2027 elections.”

In his acceptance speech, he pledged an inclusive administration focused on transparency, and identified insecurity, youth unemployment and poverty as priority areas. He is expected to face incumbent Governor Dikko Umar Radda of the APC in 2027.
