OpenLife Nigeria reports that against the backdrop of the calls by the Brekete family, urging Governor Udom Emmanuel to contest the 2023 presidency, his media aide, Reverend Richard Peters has said that Nigerian and Nigerians will be better for it if the Akwa Ibom State governor accepts to run the race to become Nigeria’s next President.
Reverend Peters made this disclosure early Tuesday when OpenLife called him to inquire if the governor is contesting the 2023 presidency.
The Brekete family had bought the presidential nomination form for the governorsome weeks ago and praised him for the infrastructural development in the oil-rich state.
Among other reasons, the group maintained that Governor Udom Emmanuel has ticked all the excellent performance boxes, saying he is eminently qualified to lead Nigeria in the second decade of the 21st century.
Speaking to OpenLife, Reverend Peters said he is not aware if the governor has made up his mind to contest the presidential election.
He noted that what he is aware of is that a group of Nigerians called Brekete family bought a nomination and expression of interest form for Governor Udom Emmanuel out of their conviction that the governor has done well and has the capacity to manage the country’s resources for an all inclusive developments and growth.
Reverend Peters however emphasized that such conviction is not misplaced judging from the unbelievable performance of the governor in the past 7 years despite monumental distractions from “idle opposition.”
He stated that Governor Udom Emmanuel is very qualified for the job on account of his stewardship in Akwa Ibom State as a governor.
“Governor Udom Emmanuel has turned Akwa Ibom State from a civil servant state to an emerging industrial hub in the sub region.
“People who bought the form for him are convinced about his capabilities.
Though, as of now, the governor is still consulting, nobody knows if he is going to accept or decline.
“But all things considered, governor Udom Emmanuel is a presidential material with better qualifications above many who are currently in the race.
“Governor Udom Emmanuel is a technocrat and sound manager of resources who knows how to convert every kobo to huge economic advantage and he has demonstrated that with verifiable evidence.
“Governor Udom Emmanuel is about the only governor with the required skills and knowledge to translate the visions of Nigerian founding fathers into concrete realities.
“He has the capacity to translate the dreams of Ahmadu Bello, Awolowo and Nnamdi Azikiwe to actuality.
“Anyone who has seen how he translated the Obong Attah’s aviation dream to manifold reality in Akwa Ibom State would attest to Governor Udom Emmanuel’s well heeled managerial skills.
“Obong Attah envisioned an airport and other ancillary services many years ago.
“But Governor Udom Emmanuel came and activated that dream to full fledge aviation enterprise through the establishment of a state owned airline which currently ranks as the best in the country.
“ The governor has attracted over 23 industries to the state in line with his industrialisation drive. His commitment to industrialisation is overwhelming.
“I can go on and on to enumerate the earth shaking performances of governor Udom Emmanuel in agriculture, education, industry, energy, infrastructural renewal, technology, health etc.
“That is the reason those calling on leaders across Africa to take resource management tutorial from Governor Udom Emmanuel are not wrong, after all,” Reverend Peters stated.
