Zamfara Police denies recovering arms and ammunition

Zamfara State Police Command has denied recovering arms and ammunition in the home of an honorable member{ name withheld} representing one of the constituencies in Tsafe local government area. A stamen by the command’s public relations officer, Superintendent Mohammed shehu, stated that

“ The attention of Zamfara State Police Command has been drawn to the above story, published by a Hausa Online TV and has been trending on social media platforms. The story which was published in Hausa language narrated how the security agents from Kano state uncovered AK-47 rifles, boxes containing live ammunition and tear gas in the residence of the said member located in Takama area of Gusau Metropolis, as well as grenade in his Tsafe residence. The story in its entirety is false. The Police Officer the writer claimed to have confirmed the story had been out of the command since 2014. The Command enjoins members of the public to disregard the story and the need for the press to avoid sensational journalism in their reportage of events. What the state and by extension the country at large needs at this time is that all hands must be on deck to find a lasting solution to any act of brigandage and other related offences.”
