Yobe CP Tasks Officers On Neutrality
OpenLife News reports that the Commissioner of Police in Yobe State, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has charged officers and men of the Command to remain neutral and professional in the discharge of their duties during the 2027 general elections.
CP Jibrin gave the charge on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the commencement of a two-day sensitisation programme on election duties and the Electoral Act for personnel drawn from Area Commands, Divisions and formations across the state.
The programme, according to the Command, is part of early preparations to ensure a peaceful and credible electoral process in 2027.
The training was attended by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Ahmed Ibrahim Kamba, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Mohammed Wakil, and the Command Legal Officer, CSP Suleiman Abdullahi Ibrahim.
The sensitisation is designed to improve officers’ understanding of the legal framework governing elections, address operational challenges associated with election duties, and strengthen inter-agency collaboration in the management of electoral security.
Participants were lectured on their responsibilities under the Electoral Act, the limits of police authority during elections, and the need for synergy with other security agencies.
Addressing the officers, the Commissioner warned against partisanship and actions capable of eroding public trust, stressing that all political parties, candidates and members of the public must be treated fairly in accordance with the law.
He said the Command remains committed to providing a secure environment for the elections through adequate preparation, operational readiness and strict adherence to established guidelines.
In a statement issued after the programme, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu, said officers were urged to uphold discipline, impartiality and respect for the rule of law throughout the electoral period.
