Women Inestimable Values Foundation Has Impacted Communities, Women, Youths Across Nigeria
OpenLife Nigeria reports that Mrs Blessing Okojie Eze, founder of Women Inestimable Value Foundation, discloses, in this interview with Staff Writer, Isaac Ngumah, that her NGO has impacted lives across Nigeria
What Year Was Your NGO Established?
The organization started since 2015. It started just like a group but it was registered as an NGO in 2017.
What Is The NGO’s Focus?
our focus is to end domestic violence or at least, reduce it to the nearest minimum.
We are also focused on addressing all kinds of violence and abuse against children, women and all Nigerian citizens.How Do You Impact Lives?
There are various ways we make impacts.
We make impacts by visiting local communities to give foods to the poor through our annual Reach Out programmes.
When we go to local communities, we supply them with foods, clothes, water and other things that are important for their survival.
Also, we do Women empowerment programmes every month where we train women in various skills like cake baking, sewing etc. We go to secondary schools and lecture the youths career paths. For youths, we have trained many on how to create website and digital marketing. So, basically these are the three ways that we make impacts.
How Many Communities Have You Carried These Empowerments?
We have visited several communities in different locations of the country in Lagos, Kwara, Ogun, Kaduna, Plateau, Rivers States. By my calculation, we would have impacted lives in more than 16 States of Nigeria.
For schools, we would have visited more than 50 schools as well as orphanage homes across different States of Nigeria.
How Do You Address The Issue Of Domestic Violence And Child Abuse?
What we basically do about domestic violence and child abuse is to inculcate knowledge into the people.
It may interest you to know that some people are into domestic violence but they don’t know the magnitude of the offence they are committing.
We also include our kinsmen in the education because of the cultural angle to child abuse and domestic violence.
For example, when there is quarrel or fight and you go to the village to report, the elders would starting talking about culture even when someone is getting depressed and dehumanized. We have various ways to addressing these issues. Once we get a report, we take up the matter.
Can You Tell Us About The Book That You Launched In 2022
The book is about rape and domestic violence. I wrote a book on domestic violence combining domestic violence in Africa. We go to secondary schools to distribute our books on rape to students. The book contains information about rape, what rape is all about, how you can report cases of rape and how you can report to Police.
Do You Get Support From Government, Individuals, Corporate Organizations To Run Your NGO?
We presently have not received any grant but we have been running it together with the team members and friends.
However, we have received supports from MTN but not cash.
We certainly need supports from government and corporate organizations including individuals so that we can have a Nigeria that holds a better future for the generation yet unborn.
