Why Peter Obi
OpenLife Nigeria reports that a Preacher, Writer and Social Activist, Meche Oswald, has thrown light on why the rock solid political relationship between Peter Obi and Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed has cracked, leading to different political camps ahead 2027
The publication by “Our Heritage Reporters” alleging that Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed stayed away from Peter Obi’s ADC defection event for “strategic reasons” is false, misleading, and intellectually dishonest.
His Excellency, Datti Baba-Ahmed’s absence was not tactical, not covert, and not negotiable. It was a conscious decision rooted in principle.
From the very first day the so-called coalition was floated, Dr Datti Baba-Ahmed clearly and publicly disassociated himself from it. He made it known, without ambiguity, that the arrangement was nothing more than a repackaging of the same old political bloc, dressed in new slogans but empty of genuine ideological reform.
He refused to lend his name, presence, or credibility to what he considers a deceptive political contraption.
This position did not emerge overnight. It is consistent with Datti’s long-standing record as a man who does not bend convictions for convenience, applause, or political survival.
Contrary to the insinuations in that report, Datti Baba-Ahmed has realigned firmly with the authentic leadership of the Labour Party, led by Barrister Julius Abure.
He remains a committed member of the Labour Party and is not considering leaving. There is no secret pact, no shadow arrangement, and no backdoor negotiations with the ADC.
Let me state clearly, his respect for Peter Obi does not require blind loyalty to every political decision Obi makes. Datti Baba-Ahmed respects Peter Obi as a former running mate and as a person, but he does not outsource his conscience to anyone. He does not live to please the crown, follow political trends, or validate questionable alliances for the sake of optics.
Datti’s politics is guided by character, clarity, and consistency, not emotional followership.
What is truly troubling is the growing habit among some Obidient propagandists to build their so-called “New Nigeria” on lies, propaganda, and manufactured narratives. A movement that claims moral superiority must first be committed to truth. You cannot preach a new order while practising the old culture of misinformation.
History will always separate men of convenience from men of conviction.
Datti Baba-Ahmed has chosen conviction.
And no amount of revisionist storytelling will change that.
