Why I Visited Segun Oni In Ifaki—Governor Oyebanji

Why I Visited Segun Oni In Ifaki

OpenLife Nigeria reports that the executive governor of Ekiti State, Biodun Oyebanji has clarified his reasons for visiting former governor Segun Oni in his Ifaki country home on Tuesday.
Segun Oni was the Social Democratic Party, SDP candidate in the 2022 guber contest, an election won by Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Disatisfied by coming 2nd in the hotly contested election, Oni had approached the court to reclaim what he described as his stolen mandate.
Supreme Court however ruled in Oyebanji’s favour.
Writing on his Facebook wall, Oyebanji explained that he had promised to set aside politics and bring everyone on board to move Ekiti State forward.
To achieve this, he began by visiting Oni to seek his co operation in the collective struggle to develop Ekiti State.
He wrote:

I paid a courtesy visit to my elder brother and former Governor of Ekiti State, H.E. Engr. Segun Oni, at his residence in Ifaki Ekiti, earlier today.

The visit was in fulfillment of a pledge I made after the Supreme Court judgement, to pay a visit to him at home and to ask him to join hands with my administration in our efforts to ensure prosperity for the good people of Ekiti State.

It was a time well spent as we discussed various issues affecting Ekiti State, including ways to improve the economy and create job opportunities in our dear State.

My appreciation to H.E. Engr. Segun Oni for the warm reception and his commitment to working together for the betterment of Ekiti State.

My administration is committed to promoting unity, progress, and prosperity in Ekiti State because working together, we can achieve our vision of a more prosperous, peaceful, and vibrant Ekiti State.
It would however be noted that Segun Oni has been unrelenting in expanding the scope of SDP in the Ekiti.
He demonstrated this by winning seats in the Ekiti State House of Assembly contest in the March 18 election.
