Why Governor Sanwo-Olu will not attend guber debate

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Bestman Jumbo-Eze, an All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain who is directly involved in the campaign process of the party has added his voice and reason governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu would not be available for debate for now.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu is seeking a re election in the March 31, 2023 guber contest in Lagos State.
Asked the about the attendance of the governor for a debate alongside candidates of other political parties, Bestman Jumbo-Eze who clarified the alleged disruption of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP campaigns in Lagos by agents of APC on Arise TV Sunday programme said “ Sanwo-Olu’s grassroots campaign strategies do not create room for debate.”
He noted that the governor is not afraid of any debate but his election strategic schedules may not give room to attend any debate.
However, Lagos State government, earlier, spoke on the flood of comments sparked by a shocking video of a group of thugs shooting in broad daylight in Surulere.
A statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, reads in part :
“Following advice from competent sources, including elders and respectable Lagosians, we will henceforth shun any forum that may require us to be together with PDP and its agents of violence.
“Consequently, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu regrets to announce that he will not be participating at The Platform Governorship Debate of January 29, 2023. The Governor holds Pastor Poju Oyemade and the Covenant Christian Church family in high esteem and cherishes future opportunities to engage the congregation and render accounts of his stewardship to them as integral parts of the Lagos electorate.
“We will never be found in the company of those to whom the lives of innocent Lagosians mean nothing. Mr Sanwo-Olu won’t share a podium with them.”
It would be recalled that similar debate calls have been made to Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate who, in England, dismissed such calls describing them as ploys to use him to make money.
