Why EFCC Is Set To Arrest More Ogun Law Makers
OpenLife Nigeria has gathered that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Nigeria’s anti corruption agency is set to arrest more law makers from Ogun State over what sources say “financial impropriety.”
This indication emerged following the arrest of the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Thursday.
He was accused of embezzlement, forging signatures and financial documents of the assembly.
The development disrupted the sitting of the assembly. Oluomo was said to have been on the wanted list of the commission following his failure to honour several invitations extended to him.
His refusal to honour the EFCC invitation followed the suit instituted by the assembly against the anti-graft agency in January at the Federal High Court, Abeokuta.
This indication of more arrests has sent jitters into the spins of some of the law makers who are said to be conscious of the public outings to avoid being picked up by security agents.
Information availed OpenLife by multiple sources aver that governor Dapo Abiodun may the target of the renewed efforts by EFCC to beam its search light on Ogun Assembly.
“They need to get at the governor. Most top members of APC don’t want his return for a second term. Some of the petitions the EFCC is working on are from the inner circle of governor Abiodun,” a source stated.
