Where Are The Results Of Over ₦681 Billion Received In Less Than Two Years By Kaduna Governor

“Uba Sani to Activists: Defend Democracy, Keep Politicians On Their Toes,” was one of the screaming headlines on DailyTrust Newspaper. The Governor called and we answered.

Two years may not be adequate to assess the administration of Senator Uba Sani, but it is enough to ask: is the administration on track? This piece does not offer any conclusions. It presents the numbers and leaves you to judge whether the output level results being celebrated matches the revenues received.

In 2023, Kaduna received ₦107.55 billion from FAAC. The previous administration, in office for about five months, got ₦48.99 billion, while the current administration received ₦58.56 billion. In 2024, the first full year under the incumbent, FAAC allocations rose to ₦305.20 billion.

An additional ₦50.39 billion was received in Q1 2025. Total FAAC revenue during this period was ₦463.15 billion; subtracting the portion received by the past administration leaves ₦414.16 billion under the current government.

Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) for 2023 stood at ₦62.41 billion—₦29.44 billion under the past government and ₦32.97 billion under the current one. In 2024, the state generated ₦70.22 billion, and ₦19.26 billion in Q1 2025. The total IGR was ₦151.92 billion, with ₦122.47 billion attributable to the current administration.

In 2023, Kaduna received ₦15.95 billion in aid and grants, with just ₦661.91 million falling under the new government. In 2024, this figure rose to ₦29.41 billion, followed by ₦773.35 million in Q1 2025. The total was ₦46.14 billion, of which ₦30.85 billion went to the current administration.

International borrowing also increased.
Of the ₦26.67 billion borrowed in 2023, ₦20.36 billion was under the current government. In 2024 and Q1 2025, it borrowed ₦52.26 billion and ₦41.34 billion respectively. That totals ₦120.28 billion in loans, with ₦113.96 billion attributed to the present administration.

Altogether, Kaduna State received ₦781.50 billion from 2023 through Q1 2025. After removing funds received under the previous government, the current administration has accessed about ₦681.44 billion. This excludes Other Capital Receipts and Sale of Fixed Asset that, if included, would increase the total.

So, with over ₦681 billion received in less than two years, the key question remains: has the administration delivered results that reflect this level of funding?
