We Have Not Endorsed Any Candidate

OpenLife Nigeria reports that against the growing insinuations in several quarters that the north has thrown its supports to one of popular candidates in the 2023 presidential election, Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed, national publicity secretary of Northern Elders Forum has disclosed that it has not endorsed any candidate.
Speaking on Channels TV political programme Tuesday evening, Ahmed said “We are still watching and we are going to scrutinize all candidates. We are watching all the candidates as they campaign round the country.”
Ahmed noted that the Northern Elders Forum frowns at deploying religion or faith to cajole stakeholders saying “You cannot impress us with faith. We are not impressed with ethnic colouration.”
He emphasized that the Northern Elders Forum will not betray its trust and obligation to the north and Nigeria stressing that “Once you say you are an elder, it means a lot. Lots of people look unto you,” he stated.
He reminded candidates that power goes to where the votes are and they must recognize this fact in the course of their plans and strategies.
However, Ahmed noted that since President Buhari has messed up the mandate handed him since 2015 and created lots of crises in the system, the north are united in ensuring that the country votes a leader with capacity to deliver democracy dividends to the citizens.
