APC's Desperate Attempt To Constrict Democratic Space And Muzzle Opposition Must Stop - NDC
OpenLife News reports that the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has applauded the Flamingos for their winning spirit and charged the female U-17 national team to stay focused on Saturday’s final and bring the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup home to Nigeria.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director, Esq., the party commended the young ladies for making history as the first African team to qualify for the final of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The Flamingos soared into history by drubbing the Samba Queens of Brazil 3-1, in a match that the dreaded South Americans had no chance. It was the Brazilians’ first loss in the competition in Morocco.
“We applaud your winning spirit. You did our country proud. Your victories have lifted Nigerians from the hunger, poverty, and sadness that the ruinous policies of the ruling party have imposed on them,” the statement read.
Osa Director praised the team for their resilience, rising from a 2-1 loss to Poland in their opening game at the competition to demolishing opponents on their way to the final.
The journey to the final was impressive and deep. The 3-1 defeat of two-time U-17 champions, DPR Korea in the group stage, was DPR Korea’s first loss in eight years. Then, the Flamingos dealt with a line-up of South Americans – Mexico 2-1 in the Round of 16, Venezuela 1-0 in the quarter-finals, then Brazil 3-1.
As they prepare for Saturday’s grand final against Japan, the NDC urged the team to remain focused and finish the job.
“Focus on the final and bring the Cup home. The NDC and Nigerians are fully behind you.”
The party added that the Flamingos’ success has brought joy to millions of Nigerians despite the failures of the APC.
“A new Nigeria is POssible with NDC,” concluded the party
