OpenLife reports that veteran Nollywood actress Eucharia Anunobi has shared details of her struggles before achieving fame, revealing that her father opposed her education and career choices.

According to Anunobi, her father believed educating a girl was a waste, saying, “they would end up getting married.” He reportedly stopped supporting her education when she refused the career path he had chosen and eventually cut ties with her.

To continue her studies, Anunobi turned to modelling as a means of financial support.

She also described a difficult period when her father locked her in her room for six months, sliding employment forms under the door and insisting she complete them. She refused to comply.

Her ambitions in acting were similarly discouraged. Anunobi recalled sneaking out of the house and sometimes climbing over fences to attend auditions.

Her career breakthrough came with the film Glamour Girls, which earned her an award in London.

The achievement reportedly improved her relationship with her father, who gave his blessing when she returned home and presented the award to him.

Anunobi’s account highlights the personal challenges she faced in pursuing her education and acting career, underscoring her determination to overcome family opposition and succeed in Nollywood.
