VeryDarkMan Goes On The Offensive Against Ooni Of Ife

OpenLife reports that Nigerian social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) has publicly expressed his disappointment with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, following an alleged WhatsApp conversation between the revered monarch and socialite King Mitchy that’s now gone viral across online platforms.

The controversy follows days of heated online exchanges between VDM and King Mitchy, which started after she criticized him over claims about renovating schools.

King Mitchy boldly asserted that she renovated a school in just six days and challenged VDM to provide her with ₦50 million to renovate four additional schools a challenge that quickly fueled further quarrels.

The drama intensified when the influencer said she lost her business page as a result of the ongoing feud and accused VDM of questioning the source of her funds.

At one point, she claimed that VDM made an inappropriate remark, alleging she was “licking a lollipop,” a comment she found demeaning.
Amid the back‑and‑forth, Mitchy released a WhatsApp screenshot of a purported conversation with the Ooni of Ife, in which the traditional ruler commends her for her good work, stating:

“See all the great things you’re doing on social media. Keep up the good work indeed! Kindly advise when we can talk.”

VDM didn’t hold back in his reaction, highlighting what he sees as a disconnect between how he shows respect to the monarch and how the monarch appears to treat King Mitchy.

In a now‑widely shared post, the activist said,

“If I see the Ooni of Ife, I will bow down to greet him, whereas he is bowing down to Mitchy on WhatsApp. A whole Ooni of Ife, I am disappointed.”

He further suggested that King Mitchy’s behaviour toward the Ooni reflects her broader disrespect:

“She even referred to him as ‘even this king had to find my contact’. No wonder she can never regard me.”

VDM contrasted the Ooni with another traditional ruler, praising Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, writing:

“Shout out to The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, may your reign be great.”
