<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Vehicle Inspection Service is set to commence statewide sensitization exercise for commercial drivers and other road users.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This is coming ahead of the ember months.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The programme is an advocacy approach to address truck and tanker drivers. It involves education, basic training on road traffic rules, safety measures and precautions. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Therefore, government intents to eradicate the negative effect of overloading and speed limitation during the ember months.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">In line with the directives of Governor <a href="https://openlife.ng/">Babajide Sanwo-Olu</a>, the service would addres <a href="http://www.punchng.com">menace </a>of truck drivers in the state. They have vowed to bring sanity to all the roads in Lagos. Engineer Akin George Fashola said the marching orders of the governor would checkmate the activities of all trucks; tankers, trailers and rickety vehicles such as danfo, buses and others.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Akin George Fashola added that sellers of drugs and liquor should desist from such. The serviceis determined to put an end to drug and <a href="http://www.guardian.ng">alcohol related </a>road accidents. </p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">He warned the drivers to desist from patronizing the ‘paraga’ sellers as to enable them concentrate on the road.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sanwo-Olu, in December 2019, it would be recalled, commissioned Lagos State Vehicle Inspection Service.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The governor noted that there had been substantial improvement in the implementation of the State’s traffic laws with the introduction of <a href="https://openlife.ng/">Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) </a>and Lagos Computerised Vehicle Inspection Services (LACVIS).</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">He added that the digital initiatives had complemented other electronic services introduced in the transportation sector to boost the State’s capacity in realising the ‘Smart City’ aspiration and transforming the economy.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">He said: “With the commissioning of this new operational headquarters for VIS officers, we are consolidating on the progress we have recorded so far in transforming the transportation sector.</p>
