Two Lagos Business Women, Blessing Chima And  Williams Chikamson, Face Money Laundering Charges

<h4><strong>Two Lagos Business Women<&sol;strong><&sol;h4>&NewLine;<h4><&sol;h4>&NewLine;<p>OpenLife Nigeria reports that two Lagos business women Blessing Chima&comma; 47 and Williams Chikamson Amsy&comma; 49 alleged to have been involved in Advance Fee Fraud and money laundering respectively have been arraigned  before a Federal High Court in Lagos&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>In a four-count amended charge&comma; filed before the court by the Police prosecuting counsel Barrister S&period;O&period; Ayodele&comma; the first defendant&comma; Blessing Chima  was alleged to have obtained N75 million from one Lanre Afebuameh&comma; under false pretence&comma; while the second defendant&comma; William Chikamson Amsy&comma;  was alleged to have received N140 million part of which belongs to Lanre Afebuameh&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The offences alleged to have been  committed by the two women are contrary to and punishable under sections 1&lpar;1&rpar;&comma; &lpar;c&rpar;&comma;1&lpar;3&rpar;of the Advance Fee Fraud and section 18&lpar;1&rpar; 2&lpar;d&rpar; of the Money Laundering Act&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The presiding Judge&comma;Lewis Allagoa has adjourned till 14th February&comma;2025 when the trial of the defendants will commence&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The Amended charge as filed before the court by the Police Legal officer from Force Criminal Investigation Department Alagbon  Lagos&comma;Barrister S&period;O&period;Ayodele&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>Amended Charge<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>That you Blessing Chima &&num;8216&semi;F&&num;8217&semi; on the 4th and 5th day of July 2024&comma; in Lagos within the Lagos Judicial Division of the Federal High Court&comma;did by false pretense and with intent to defraud&comma;obtained the sum of Twenty Five Million Naira &lpar;&num;25&comma;000&comma;000&colon;00k&rpar; and the sum of Fifty Million Naira &lpar;<a href&equals;"https&colon;&sol;&sol;www&period;vanguardngr&period;com&sol;">&num;50&comma;000&comma;000&colon;00k&rpar;<&sol;a> respectively from one Mr Lanre Afebuameh under the guise of exchanging the aforementioned sum of money to Chinese Yen which you will send to his Clients in China&comma; a representation you knew to be false and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1&lpar;1&rpar; &lpar;c&rpar; and punishable under section 1&lpar;3&rpar; of the Advance Fee Frand and other related offences Act 2006&comma; Laws of the Federation of Nigeria&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>COUNT II&colon; <&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>That you Blessing Chima &&num;8216&semi;F&&num;8217&semi; on the same date&comma; time and place&comma; and in the aforementioned Judicial Division&comma; did steal the sum of Twenty Five Million Naira &lpar;&num;25&comma;000&comma;000&colon;00k&rpar;and the sum of Fifty Million Naira &lpar;&num;50&comma;000&comma;000&colon;00k&rpar; respectively from one Mr Lanre Afebuamch by converting same to your own personal use and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 383 and punishable under section 390&lpar;9&rpar; of the Criminal Code Act&comma; Cap C38&comma; Laws of the Federation of Nigeria&comma; 2004&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>COUNT 111<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>That you Williams Chikamson Amsy &&num;8216&semi;F&&num;8217&semi; sometimes in 2024 received the sum of One Hundred and Forty Million Naira &lpar;&num;140&comma;000&comma;000&colon;00k&rpar; part of which belongs to one Mr Lanre Afebuameh which was stolen from him by one Blessing Chima F&&num;8217&semi;&comma; and which you reasonably ought to have known that the aforementioned sum is proceed of crime but acquired&comma; used&comma; retained and took possession of the said amount and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 18&lpar;1&rpar; 2&lpar;d&rpar; of the Money Laundering&lpar;Prevention and Prohibition&rpar; Act&comma; 2022 and punishable under section 3 of the same Act&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>COUNT IV&colon;<&sol;strong><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>That you Williams Chikamson Amsy &&num;8216&semi;F&&num;8217&semi;on the same date&comma; time and place&comma; and in the aforementioned Judicial Division&comma; did conceal&comma; removed from jurisdiction&comma; transferred to nominees the sum of One Hundred and Forty Million Naira &lpar;&num;140&comma;000&comma;000&colon;00k&rpar; part of which belongs to one Mr Lanre Afebuameh which was stolen from him by one Blessing Chima &&num;8216&semi;F&&num;8221&semi;&comma; which you reasonably ought to have know or suspected the aforementioned Blessing Chima &&num;8216&semi;F&&num;8217&semi; to have engaged in an unlawful activity&comma; or reasonably ought to have known or suspected that the aforementioned sum of money directly or indirectly represents another person&&num;8217&semi;s proceed and thereby commit an offence contrary to section 20 &lpar;a&rpar; &amp&semi; &lpar;b&rpar;of the Money Laundering &lpar;Prevention Prohibition&rpar; Act&comma;2022<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&nbsp&semi;<&sol;p>&NewLine;
