Tiwa Savage Speaks On Her Ikoyi Neighbourhood With President Tinubu

OpenLife Nigeria reports that Nigerian Afrobeats powerhouse Tiwa Savage has ignited widespread conversations online after revealing that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lives right next door to her Ikoyi residence. The disclosure came during a candid interview with content creator Korty, where the award-winning singer opened up about her living situation, security, and personal comfort.

According to Tiwa, her current Ikoyi home serves as a temporary retreat while she completes another property project. She described the location as a place of safety and calm, largely due to its proximity to the President’s residence on Bourdillon Road.

In her words,

“To be honest, this is like my temporary place… So this is like my safe haven till then. I feel safe. I feel safe actually. I actually feel a little bit important ’cause the president’s house is in front.”

The statement immediately sparked reactions across social media, with fans, critics, and commentators debating celebrity privilege, security, and the intersection of fame and political power in Nigeria.

WHO IS TIWA SAVAGE?

Tiwa Savage, born Tiwatope Savage on February 5, 1980, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and performer widely regarded as one of Africa’s most influential female artists. She is currently 45 years old and has spent over two decades building a global music career.

CAREER AND MUSICAL GROWTH

Tiwa began her music journey in the United States, studying music at Berklee College of Music and working as a backup singer for international stars before returning to Nigeria. Her breakthrough came with hit singles like Kele Kele Love, Love Me, and Eminado, eventually earning her the title “Queen of Afrobeats.”

Over the years, she has evolved musically, blending Afrobeats, R&B, pop, and soul, while releasing critically acclaimed albums such as Once Upon a Time, R.E.D, Celia, and Water & Garri. Her sound maturity and global collaborations have positioned her as a cultural export for Africa.

FAMILY AND NET WORTH

Tiwa Savage’s estimated net worth is placed at several million dollars, earned through music sales, global tours, brand endorsements, and business ventures. She was previously married to music executive Tunji “TeeBillz” Balogun, a union that ended in divorce. The singer has one son, Jamil, whom she often describes as her greatest blessing.

HER INFLUENCE AND CURRENT ENDEAVOURS

Tiwa Savage has played a pivotal role in opening doors for women in Nigeria’s male-dominated music industry. Beyond music, she is an advocate for women’s empowerment and African representation on global stages.

Currently, Tiwa continues to record new music, perform internationally, and expand her creative footprint across fashion, film, and brand partnerships — all while building her next home and, as she humorously implied, enjoying the added security of a very powerful neighbour.
