Tinubu Submits 2nd Batch Of Ministerial Nominees
OpenLife Nigeria reports that at about 3.15 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2023, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through his Chief of Staff, Rt. Honorable Femi Gbajabiamila, submitted the 2nd batch of the ministerial nominees to the Senate President, Senate Godswill Akpabio, for screening.
Tinubu, who was sworn in May 29, 2023, had, on Thursday, July 27, 2023, sent a list of ministerial nominees to the Senate for screening. The list was received by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Considered as the first batch, the list contained 28 nominees. The list included former Governor of Rivers State Nyesom Wike, ex-Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi and presidential spokesman Dele Alake.
The States that were not represented in the first batch were Adamawa, Bayelsa, Gombe, Kano, Kebbi and Kogi.
The unrepresented States include Lagos, Nasarawa, Osun, Yobe and Zamfara.
With the latest submission, Tinubu may have addressed the constitutional lacuna which recommends that the president should appoint at least 36 ministers to allow representation from all 36 states in Nigeria.
