Three Reasons General Ibrahim

OpenLife Nigeria reports that many months after the launch, the revelations in General Ibrahim Babangida’s book, ‘A Journey In Service,’ are still under review.

Specifically, the revelation that the Federal forces cornered Colonel Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu on Tuesday, September 12, 1967, the day Enugu, the Biafran capital, fell has been faulted.

According to General Babangida on page 70:

“When federal and ground forces assaulted the city, Ojukwu was asleep in the State House. When he woke up to the sound of gunfire and explosions to find his guards gone, the building was surrounded by federal troops. Ojukwu was said to have disguised himself as a servant to escape the cordon!”

Reacting, a social media influencer, By Abubakar Ishaq Eazy, raised some posers which punctured IBB’s submissions.
According to him: “IBB’s version could not have been true for the following reasons:

1 Ojukwu had outstanding physical features which made him easily recognizable by everyone. Hence, there was no way he could have disguised himself as a servant without being noticed.

2 The Nigerian army or police style had always been to arrest anyone or anything on sight once you get there. So, the idea of a servant bring allowed to leave a place like that very quickly was quite impossible. If not for any other thing, he would have been tortured to give information about the whereabouts of his boss.

3 Having fought a war for almost three years, no soldier in his fight senses would let an enemy as Ojukwu escape and lose a the victory of having Ojukwu’s head served on a silver platter to Gowon.
