The New President Of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide

OpenLife Nigeria reports that following the death of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, on Thursday, July 25, 2024, Chief Jackson Omenazu of Rivers State Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has declared himself “de facto and acting President General,” to run the affairs of the socio-cultural organization pending fresh election in January 2025.

Coming when his nomination as deputy President General, which was presented to the National Executive Council, NEC, of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in 2023 did not receive approval, it becomes surprising to many how Chief Jackson Omenazu came about such declaration.

Speaking with OpenLife in an exclusive interview Tuesday morning in Lagos, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos describes the declaration as a beer parlour talk

Sir, recently, a member of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in Rivers State, Chief Jackson Omenazu, said that he is now the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide. Is that true? Has a replacement been made for late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu?

I am surprised that not up to one month that Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu passed away as President General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, someone is talking about being the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide.

Well, I don’t believe it because I see it as a social media broadcast. If you are deceived, you are on you own.
I have said it over 7 months ago that it is the turn of Rivers State to occupy Ohanaeze Ndigbo President General worldwide seat.

But if we don’t have a capable hand in Rivers State, especially someone who has Igbo interest in his heart and sees himself as a son of the soil of Igbo extraction, we will move to Abia State.

But this is not the discussion of the moment because the committee for the burial of the late President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, Chief Emmannuel Iwuanyawu, has not concluded its work.

Well, if there is anyone talking now that he is the President already, I think that is a beer parlour discussion.
It is like saying that Benin Republic football team beating Argentina national team 12-0. It will be difficult for any football lover and analyst to believe.

Like I mentioned in my last publication, if Ndigbo wants unity, we must go for a quality leader. It should be someone who is vibrant and outspoken. The person should also have wisdom, native intelligence and a heart of sacrifice especially someone who considers Igbo interest first.

For example, the problem of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos is from the headquarters in Enugu because they get information from the wrong people especially people that have retired from 419 and find it difficult to fit into yahoo yahoo which replaced 419 in this modern time because yahoo yahoo is completely electronic. So, Ohanaeze Ndigbo becomes their hiding umbrella.

Another problem in Ohanaeze Ndigbo is that some politicians have hijacked Ohanaeze leadership.
Some of the leaders mean well for Ndigbo while some are for their political interests instead of the people’s choice.

Above all, if it happens that the President General Worldwide seat will go to Abia State, my candidate will be the secretary of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Ambassador Okey Emuchay who has worked with two presidents of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, namely: late Professor George Obiozor and late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.

People think that I am not working with Ambassador Okey Emuchay and that there is enmity between us. No. Not at all. It was all about the wrong information some people were feeding him about me.

Those people who were feeding him with wrong information about me know that if we work together, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will get to enviable height and the unity of Ndigbo will be achieved both in Lagos Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Ohanaeze Ndigbo national. It is by grace and not by grammar.

This is because when you are talking about Ohanaeze Ndigbo, it is between the National and Lagos including Abuja.

But some of those people who are good at blackmailing others think that if we work together all their channels of deceiving people and exhorting money in the name of Ohanaeze will be blocked.

Some of them campaigned for me to win the election as Ohanaeze Ndigbo President in Lagos , no doubt.
They thought it was going to be business as usual, working with them. Nothing more than that. That is why they labelled me a stubborn child.

But I beg Ndigbo in the name of God that having good leadership will help us achieve unity that has become an essential commodity within Igbo extraction.

Someone like Ambassador Okey Emuchay will do well as President General Worldwide of Ohanaeze Ndigbo. He is still a young man. I am not campaigning for him at the moment but what I am saying is something that will be of interest to Ndigbo because even if I leave Ohanaeze Ndigbo presidency in Lagos I am still a strong stakeholder.

Leading Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos is a big task and great experience for me where every Igbo family has a lineage. I think I have seen it all.

For example, as President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos, after having a Consent Judgement, these cabal still went to deceive the Enugu leaders at the National that it is a Court Order and not Judgement with CTC.

They did this because of the money from the sales of forms including the money to make from the candidate for the election. Eventually, they brough Mr. Sunday Ossai and elected him as President Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos against the sitting President already with a Consent High Court Judgement.

They forgot that any dog that is pursuing monkey is just doing exercise because monkey can climbs a tree but dog cannot. And the monkey can move from the tree into the forest.

So, the National has seen it that comparing Mr. Sunday Ossai and Chief Solomon Ogbonna in leadership is like the exercise of dog pursuing monkey on top of trees.

So, late Iwuayanwu did not make a mistake when he described me as a “Capacity President,” which is an indirect endorsement of me, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, for those who do not know.

Leadership is by birth and there is no competition in destiny. When you cut a snake head, what is left is rope.
I have made my point with the last proverb.
