The Gains

The Gains Of Striving On Competence

The gains associated with competence cannot be overemphasized

OpenLife reports that the gains associated with competence in the course of duty and assignment cannot be overemphasized.
This aphorism defines the work philosophy of Titilayo Oriyomi- Oluwasanmi, a Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP who is in charge of traffic control and management in Lagos State.
Earlier in life, the Lagos born traffic management expert, who joined the force as Cadet ASP Course 21 in 2002,
never wished to be associated with traffic let alone being seen on the road.
But fate and destiny conspired to conscript her into a professional she is naturally tailored for.
“Traffic is not really bad. The gains are encouraging even though it is the work I hated most in the Police. This was because as a Lagosian, I don’t like people seeing me on the road,” she stated.
However, the career Policewoman, who is first, a wife, then a mother and of course, a public servant, is popularly known within the Police circle and Lagos metropolis, as Motopol, an acronym for Motor Traffic Police.
Though the name did not come cheap as she has worked hard to earn it through daily exposure to virtually all road users in Lagos, Titilayo says “I don’t like incompetence. That motivates me on the job. Whenever I am given something to do, I want to accomplish it well. It has helped me to succeed in all areas and departments in the Police I have worked,” she disclosed.
