OpenLife Nigeria reports that a popular Nigerian singer, Gabriel Amanyi, well known as Terry G, has announced his retirement from music.

Terry made the announcement in a post on his Instagram account on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
The singer, who failed to disclose the reason for his decision, thanked his supporters for their love over the years.

Terry G wrote: “A big thank you to my fans for staying with me all these years. I really appreciate you all. It’s been amazing years back-to-back. Thank you all for the love.

“But I’m about to make a big announcement. I know it’s going to hurt a lot of people, but I’ve my personal reasons. I’m quitting music. I’m done. And I really appreciate you guys for showing me so much love.”

Some of Terry G’s famous tracks include Free Madness’, ‘Akpako Master’, and ‘Sangalow’, among others.

Born in Benue State on the 17th of March, 1986, Terry G who will be 38 this year, attended Starfield Educational Centre, Lagos, before dropping out.

He is happily married to Mimi with children and is reportedly worth an estimated $3.8 million. However, OpenLife cannot verify it.

He started as a church choir at his mother’s encouragement, who is also a chorister at the Redeemed Christian Church of God.

He developed an interest in music and learned the basics of music production there.

Terry G began his music career in 2006, and he has four albums to his credit: Free Me, Ginjah ur Swaggah Season 1, Terry Gzuz, and Book of Ginger.

After releasing the song Pass Me Your Love in the late 2000s, he rose to prominence. His church experiences gave him an advantage and helped him advance in the music industry. Throughout his singing career, he has produced several songs.

His music hit the air in the late 2000s after he released the song “Pass Me Your Love” featuring AY.com.

Nigerians liked the songs on his albums because of their crazy dance and party rhythm. Terry G has so far released several songs, some of which include,

• Free madness
Terry G appeared in his first Nollywood film, “1st Hit,” in 2016, alongside Zubby Michael, Nonso Diobi, and Junior Pope Odonwodo. Zubby Michael directed and produced the film.

He was awarded Best Street Artist at the 2010 Hip-hop Awards and Most Promising Act to Watch at the Headies Awards.
