Tems Shocked As Bukayo Saka
OpenLife reports that Bukayo Saka has surprised many when he admitted that he does not know who Celine Dion is and had never listened to her music.
The Arsenal F.C. winger made the revelation during a conversation with Grammy-winning Nigerian singer Tems.
Saka asked Tems about the artists who inspired her while growing up. Tems, reflecting on her childhood, said that she loved Celine Dion.
Saka admitted that he was unfamiliar with Dion, asking if it was bad that he had never heard of her.
Tems: “I loved Celine Dion.”
Saka: “I don’t know who that is… Is that bad?”
Tems: “You don’t know who Celine Dion is? Oh my gosh… Celine Dion!”
Bukayo Saka was born 5 September 2001 in Ealing, London, England, and is of Nigerian heritage.
He joined the youth academy of Arsenal F.C. and made his first-team debut in 2018.
Known for his pace, creativity, and versatility, Saka primarily plays as a right winger and also represents the England national football team, making his senior debut in 2020 and featuring in tournaments including the UEFA European Championship and the FIFA World Cup.
Celine Dion was born 30 March 1968 in Charlemagne, Quebec, Canada, and rose to global fame in the late 1980s and 1990s with hits such as “My Heart Will Go On” from the film Titanic. She has sold over 200 million records worldwide.
Celine Dion has battled Stiff-person syndrome, but remains an iconic figure in music and is alive as of 2026.
Saka’s unfamiliarity with Dion is likely due to generational differences, personal music tastes, and the way younger listeners discover music today, often through social media and streaming platforms rather than the older global hits of the 1990s.
